𝟯𝗗 𝗠𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗕𝗘 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗗 ❌🚫The decision to implement 3D design into your processes isn't one to be taken lightly. While 3D technology offers remarkable capabilities, it comes with its own set of pitfalls, challenges, and learning curves that go beyond just creating hyper realistic renders.Implementing any new technology within a business demands more than just financial investment; it requires a shift in mindset, a strategic approach, and for success an unwavering commitment to change. Resistance to change, although a natural human trait will halt any well intended plan that doesn't focus on the people who are driving change within a business. This can look like reluctance to abandon traditional methods or the challenge of up-skilling a workforce, these hurdles can lead to wasted time and money if not properly addressed.A lack of a clear strategy can derail even the most promising 3D initiatives. Without well-defined goals and a roadmap to achieve them, your 3D projects can quickly become directionless, leading to frustration and inefficiencies. Commitment from the wider organisation is crucial. 3D design success hinges on everyone being on board, from top management to the designers and production teams. This collective buy-in ensures that the technology is used to its fullest potential.ImplementationIs about more than just the technology itself; it's about creating a cohesive vision and ensuring that every member of the team is aligned with that vision. As you consider the potential of 3D design for your fashion company, ask yourself: Is your organisation truly ready to embrace this change, with the necessary strategy, investment, and commitment in place? 🚀 If the answer is YES I want to hear from you! ☎️ At INHOUSE we are the extension of your team that will mitigate your 3D pitfalls, prepare and support your team to overcome the challenges ahead, and ensure that you have a clear water tight company vision for 3D that your wider company will understand and get on board with.#fashion#change#innovation #3Dfashion#3D#Strategy📸 : INHOUSE

I find it so inspiring when a company understands the value of multidisciplinary professionals. Unicorns 🦄 are often asked to choose one or the other. And we often oblige, of course, because you asked us to. But deep inside there's a churning desire to see more, contribute more, and have a larger footprint. This, to me, is what makes "designgineering" truly remarkable. The gifted folks who take on these roles enable companies to overcome the boundaries of what is currently possible. As the fine folks at Vercel write in the article I'm sharing here, "This multidisciplinary approach allows the team to push what’s possible on the web."Truly, wide "curiosity" like this empowers companies to take a truly competitive position in today's marketplace.Keep up the great work, Vercel!#vercel #designEngineer #range #generalist #unicorn

Perhaps a rewording of the Arffra website is in order to include the words “Design Engineer’. Described here is exactly the focus of my web offering. This hybrid role is key. Siloed design and dev work just leads to inferior results.

"Highlighting the Gap in 3D Fashion Technology"Are you a fashion designer struggling to break into 3D design?Or an employer unable to find skilled professionals in 3D fashion? The fashion industry is rapidly embracing 3D technology, but there's a significant gap in skills and resources.Hi everyone! I’m Sanjana Purohit, a 3D fashion designer with over 5+ years of experience. Let's discuss the key challenges in the 3D fashion industry and why it's struggling to reach its full potential.🔹 Lack of Standardization: Different software use various fabric testing methods, leading to inconsistent results in draping and fitting.🔹 Technological Complexity: Integrating 3D tech softwares into existing workflows requires specialized skills, making it hard for brands to adapt.🔹 Supply Chain Integration: Ensuring digital designs match physical garments needs close collaboration with manufacturers, which is still a challenge.🔹 Cost and Investment: The initial cost of 3D technology and training can be high, especially for smaller brands.🔹 Data Management: Handling large amounts of data from 3D design processes can be overwhelming and requires robust management practices.🔹 Realistic Look: Achieving lifelike 3D garments needs expertise in software like Substance Designer and Substance Painter, Unreal Engine etc adding to the cost and time investment.🔹 Digital Fabric Standardization: Lack of standardized digital fabric files across systems hampers accurate simulations.Despite these challenges, the future of fashion is digital. By focusing on standardization, skill development, and better supply chain integration, we can unlock the full potential of 3D fashion technology. Organisations or Employers need to hire, train, and give opportunities to those passionate about 3D fashion. Building teams with this passion and expertise can bring a 3D fashion revolution.Let's work together to bridge this gap and unlock the full potential of 3D fashion technology!Share your thoughts and experiences in the comments below!#3DFashion #FashionTech #DigitalFashion #FashionInnovation #FashionDesign #3DModeling #FutureOfFashion#3DFashion #FashionTechnology #SkillsGap"

If I had to do it all over again (vocationally), I would have: -Been an orthodontist: It's fun shooting rubber bands at teenagers.-Been a veterinarian: Who doesn't love a puppy?-Been a fitness trainer: I'd always be in shape. But seriously, I would have & should have been a pattern maker. It is the foundation of our industry, of any company & brand, and can make or break that of any company or brand. It is an unparalleled, desirable, needed skill. I know just enough of the skill to get me in trouble, mostly with other pattern makers ;) With the advent of 3D technology, it is becoming even more evident of the lack of basic pattern making skills in today’s young designers & product developers. You can’t use the tools without this basic knowledge. And many pattern makers do not have the skills to work in the 3D platforms. I had the pleasure of working side by side with Sue Kagan: me on CLO Virtual Fashion Inc. and she, an expert in the field of fit. It was a very symbiotic relationship, and the results were astounding. We had amazing success in making functional fit corrections in CLO Virtual Fashion Inc. that were realized in the first physical sample. It is a process that should be implemented across the apparel industry. As in a similar post by June Evans, pattern makers are pattern makers, not product developers & visa versa. The current Apparel curriculum is rushing to add 3D to their course load, but are they also furthering their student’s knowledge of pattern making & fit corrections in those platforms? It also begs the question for the companies who are using 3D: who does the work? Or are they just using the digital asset for presentations and ecomm, and relying on the physical sample for the rest? I’m pretty sure I know the answers to these questions, but I’d love to hear from you and your experiences. 📞 Give me a shout: I help start-ups and small brands develop their garments through technical sketching, tech packs, and 3D sampling. I also help any size company implement 3D, optimize their processes & organization, and set them up to scale & succeed…

We avoid getting our students into a staccato design process. Multilevel research and 2D/3D development forms a whirlpool that draws in ever more sophisticated material. It’s not about “having” an idea, it’s about developing solutions. In design projects all ideas need to be evidenced and studied from multiple angles and media (including 2D/3D digital:) Istituto Marangoni #fashioneducation #fashionschool #fashionstudent

🎓 Do we want to talk about fashion school programs today? A few years ago, I chose to dive deeper into 3D in fashion. I didn't want to stop at 3D CAD software like CLO or VStitcher; I aimed to understand the complexity of 3D and translate physical fashion into the digital space. So, I took a year off just to learn. My search for a fashion school that could fill my knowledge gaps was, to put it bluntly, fruitless. I found NO FASHION SCHOOL offering programs beyond basic 3D garment creation. NONE. I decided to learn on my own and later ended up mastering 3D skills at a school geared towards future CGI artists in gaming and cinema, spending additional time adapting these concepts for fashion development. Years later, it seems not much has changed in fashion education! 👗 Here are some thoughts on digital fashion in current school programs: ✨Fashion companies DO NOT use digital assets for marketing purposes only. XR experiences, Metaverses, NFTs... these are not the biggest added value and definitely not the way to achieve ROI on 3D assets. Designers, technical teams, vendors, and merchandisers utilize 3D assets from day one. Then, AND ONLY THEN, do marketing and e-commerce teams get involved. 3D assets are expensive and make sense only when used throughout the entire process. I haven't seen any fashion school program covering digital fittings or differences between 3D and physical garments to be able to understand the peculiarities of both. ✨Marketing assets aren't just exported .obj/.fbx/.glb files. They are optimized low-poly versions, correctly textured for further use. I have seen UE projects with garments exported with every pattern piece as a single asset. I have seen garments that have millions of polygons. I have seen garments with 8k maps for a single button. Assets have to be OPTIMIZED and this is not something you do in CLO or Vstitcher. But optimization isn’t typically covered in basic 3D software training in fashion school. 🤔 Sadly, I've yet to find a fashion school program that teaches these essential skills. Instead, I see expensive courses offering little more than what free YouTube tutorials teach. To truly harness 3D in fashion, we need specific skills. We need to understand how to translate the physical world into the digital, considering the laws and peculiarities of both. 🤔 Do you know of any fashion school that offers a truly valuable digital fashion program? 🖥️ How did you acquire your digital fashion skills? #FashionEducation #DigitalFashion #3DInFashion #FutureOfFashion

Couldn’t agree more.Digital fashion is still highly misunderstood in its PRAGMATIC application to industry. Fashion houses should forget the hype, and focus on the practical use case and future versatility. This will require a slight stretch in thinking. Take for example mesh optimisation - not normally associated with classic fashion jargon, but very important for asset creation for fashion marketing, advertising, digital representation.
