Todd McFarlane's Spawn: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Marc Bernardin Entertainment Weekly The series' leisurely pace allows you to become entranced by the mood, too, as you wait forever for the anemic plots to thicken. Rated: C Jul 10, 2018 Full Review Todd McFarlane's Spawn: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Ray Richmond Variety It's as dark and complex as anything HBO has attempted in the live-action arena. And visually, it's quite the stunner. HBO wanted different, and it surely got it. Jul 10, 2018 Full Review Todd McFarlane's Spawn: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) G. Kendall CBR Although the Spawn comic was often mocked for its needlessly opaque handling of various conspiracies, Season One of the animated series actually crafts an engaging web of intrigue. Apr 30, 2019 Full Review Todd McFarlane's Spawn: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Justin Bruce Screen Rant Bringing a sense of authenticity to animated shows for adults, Todd McFarlane's Spawn garnered acclaim from critics and the public alike, who praised the show for its storytelling and for capturing the dark and gritty nature of the comic book series. Apr 30, 2019 Full Review Todd McFarlane's Spawn: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Eric Goldman, Matt Fowler, Scott Collura and Joey Esposito IGN Movies Visually distinct and containing dark and compelling stories, the Spawn animated series was a far more successful adaptation of the character than the live-action feature film of the same era. Apr 30, 2019 Full Review Todd McFarlane's Spawn: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Dan Seitz Uproxx It did a surprisingly effective job of both translating McFarlane's art into motion and in capturing the sometimes cheesy vibe of the original comics. Ben F I sure hope they bring the spawn animated series back someday I'm glad the movie is coming out next year 2025 Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/09/24 Full Review Supersonicvenom Easy to get into and beautifully animated dark and if you like horror it's got it.... Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/01/23 Full Review Everyday G Absolutely amazing, year's ahead of its time! Animations are truly so original in looks. This show has a truly dark, gritty and brutal world, there is nothing held back. Nothing feels forced, it had almost every crime you can think of, it really shows that he stuck to his ideas and placed them all in. After all this isn't a hero Animation, this is a Spawn of Hell! This is a must watch! It may be from 1997, but looks better than some 2022 new Netflix animated series. There no Political Correct woke crazys here, it's a true master piece. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/14/22 Full Review Audience Member Easily a 9.5 out of 10 a dark gritty violent series that does the original comic series justice. With amazing voice castings all around Spawn is worth the watch as a series that has no problem getting down to the bloody violence the comics had while also not getting lost in it. With a concrete two track story of crooked cops and a battle between hell and heaven Spawn excels in the story telling department. Also let us not forget the fluid animation that *almost* perfectly captures both Mcfarlanes' and Capullos' art style. A series far ahead of it's time.
